Backer - Sequential/random Backdrop Selector

by Tony Howat

Backer is an application which allows your computer to display any one of up to 17,787 different backdrops, which is selected at start-up on either a sequential or a random basis. Furthermore, an additional application, BackTrig, is provided which allows Backer to cycle between a number of different backdrops while you work, with the time interval chosen by the user.

Backdrop sprites can be displayed in centred, tiled or scaled format, which means that you can use any size of sprite for a backdrop. The sprite files can be stored in squashed format in order to save space on your hard disc.

Running the item from the Master Menu opens an archive containing both the Backer and BackTrig applications. These cannot be run directly from the archive and so they should be transferred to a suitable location on your hard disc. Backdrop sprites are kept in three directories within the !Backer application directory, entitled Centred, Scaled and Tiled. Each of these may contain up to 77 subdirectories entitled 1 to 77 which hold up to 77 sprites each. A number of sprites for you to use are supplied already installed in the appropriate subdirectories.

A more detailed description together with instructions on using the program can be found in the !Help file inside the application.
