Module Manager - Extended info on all modules

by Alex Hayward and Paul Witheridge

Module Manager by Alex Hayward was originally published on the RISC User 7:6 magazine disc, and was designed to assist with the management of both
software loaded modules and modules held in ROM. This update by Paul Witheridge extends the functionality of the original program.

The application can be run from the RISC User menu system, or by double-clicking on its icon in a directory viewer. An icon is installed on the icon bar. Module Manager makes extensive use of interactive help, so for a run down on how
to use it, start up the Acorn Help application, install Module Manager and walk the pointer over the icon bar icon, windows and menus.

Or, if you prefer to read hunks of text ...

Click Select on the Module Manager icon for a list of all currently
active modules. This list shows the module number, module address,
module workspace address, module size, where the module resides
(ROM or RMA), its version (from the help string), its SWI chunk base
and prefix and finally the module title. Clicking menu over a module
allows you to enter it as a language, reinitialise it, RMKill it, or
display details of the commands and SWIs supported by the module.

Click Adjust on the Module Manager icon for a list of all modules held
in ROM (System ROM), Extension ROM (Ext ROM) and in expansion cards
(Exp card). This list gives the module versions and status (active,
dormant, running or unplugged). Clicking Menu over a module provides
options to reinitialise, copy into the RMA (RMFaster), RMInsert
(opposite of Unplug) and Unplug.

Click Menu over the Module Manager icon for the application menu. This
provides an alternative method of displaying the above lists ("Active
modules" and "ROM modules") plus access to a handy dialogue box for
converting SWI numbers to names and vice versa.

Drag a module file to Module Manager for details of the module,
including its title, version, date and supported commands and SWIs.

The Module Manager program is written in Basic and compiled with
the Silicon Vision RiscBasic compiler for improved performance.

The messages, interactive help text, menus and text positioning
within the lists are all customisable via the Messages file. See the
file entitled Customise for more details.

Module Manager works with RISC OS 3.10, 3.11 and 3.50, but not RISC OS 2.
