TimeStamp

by George K. Saliaris

TimeStamp is a small application which provides a way to stamp one or more
files with a particular time or date. The program overcomes the problem of trying to stamp files
with a timestamp different from the current real time. Unfortunately RISC OS does not provide a direct call to stamp an object
with a certain time and date, and the alternative is to change the
system clock, which is very inconvenient.

Installation and use
When the program is run, an icon will be installed on the icon bar. Clicking Menu over the icon bar icon opens a menu with three entries: Info, Quit and Set. The first two of these perform their usual functions. The Set option leads to a dialogue box which allows you to set the required time which will be stamped to the file. Clicking Select over the icon bar icon also opens this window.

The time can be set in the window by clicking on the arrow icons until the required time is displayed. Clicking on the Real time icon will set the current time.

To
stamp an object, drag it from a directory viewer
to the icon bar icon. You can stamp several objects in one operation by selecting the files and dragging the selection. Any files which are unstamped (i.e. with load/execution addresses) are left untouched. Directories can also be stamped, but not their contents. Years wrap around between 1900 and 2248.
