Simon An addictive family game

by Colin Cassidy

Simon is a simple but addictive game based upon an old idea. The game consists of four coloured shapes which 'light up' in a random sequence. The player must replicate this sequence by clicking on the shapes in the right order. Each time a correct answer is given, the sequence repeats but with one additional element, and a little quicker. In other words, as you progress, the sequence gets longer and faster. If you fail to give the correct answer, or you do not answer within the time limit, your turn is over and your score is shown.

To play the game, double-click on the application icon in a Filer window or run the program from the RISC User menu system. A window will open on the screen showing a circle with four segments. Clicking over the window will start the game, and a segment will light up, either red, green, yellow or blue. As soon as the 'light' goes out, you must click on the segment which was lit. If you get it right, the sequence continues, with two segments now being lit consecutively. You must now click over the two segments in the correct order. The next stage will be three segments, and so on. If you make a mistake, the whole circle will light up momentarily and your score will be displayed. When the 'lights' go out, the next player's turn may start, and the current high score displayed.
