CopyMusic - Mstro bar copier

by Ben Avison

This program is designed to be used alongside the music program Mstro, which is supplied with all computers on Applications disc 1, or on the hard drive if your machine was supplied with one. Its function is to copy a part of a musical score and append it to the end of the score; this was not included when Mstro was written, yet it is invaluable for saving time and effort when inputting a piece which contains repeated or similar bars or phrases.

The application can be loaded by double-clicking on its icon in a directory display or by clicking on its icon in the RISC User Menu program. When loaded, the application installs itself on the icon bar. The main dialogue box is brought up by dragging a Mstro file to the icon. Note that due to a bug in Mstro, you cannot drag directly from the Save dialogue box of Mstro, only from a directory viewer.

The program has one simple window, which is opened when a Mstro file is dragged onto the icon bar icon. The Mstro file must end with a bar for the program to work. The window displays the name of the source file, together with the name of the file to be created. The section of this file to be copied is designated by a set of bars, the first and last of which are set by the icons in the bottom of the window. When these are set up correctly, click on Save to save the file.

At the end of the operation, the destination file will contain the same as the source file, followed by the excerpt of the source file as described by the lower icons. Note that the source and destination files should have different names.

Two example files created using the program are provided. These appear in
the directory display which is opened when you run the program.
