Sphere Zone
by Jonathan Hunt

Sphere Zone is a game for four players. The object of the
game is to score as many points as possible by making lines
of spheres of your colour. If fewer than four "human"
players are available, the computer can take the turns of
the missing players.

The game is played on a 55 grid of squares, and on your
turn you choose one of these squares. If the square is
empty, a sphere of your colour is placed there, otherwise
the sphere already there changes to a different colour, not
necessarily your own! You can choose the order of colour
rotation, either Red-Green-Blue-Orange-Red or
Red-Orange-Blue-Green-Red.

If the sphere put down on your turn forms part of a line of
the same colour, you are awarded points. The longer the
line, the more points you get.

Line Length	Points
2 1
3 3
4 9
5 27

After a set number of turns the game ends, and the player
with the highest score wins.

USING THE APPLICATION
Load the application by double-clicking on the program's icon in the directory display.
Once loaded, a new game can be started by clicking Select
on the icon bar icon, or by selecting the New game option
from the icon bar menu. The main window will then appear.
This window contains the 55 square playing area, the score
for each player, the number of moves left for each player,
and an icon that indicates whose turn it is. The mouse
pointer will change to a coloured sphere if moved over the
window, giving another indication of whose turn it is.

A sphere can be placed or changed by clicking over the
appropriate square with Select. When the computer takes
a turn, the hourglass will appear while the computer thinks
about where to go.

The Options window can be accessed from the icon bar menu
and allows you to change the sequence direction, the type
of each player (human or computer), the number of turns,
and which player goes first. If there is a game in
progress, these last two options will be greyed out.
The sound can also be turned on and off from
here.

A game can be ended by selecting End game from the icon bar
menu.
