Free

This is a very simple way to add multi-tasking Free graph displays to filing systems that were written for RISC OS 2, but are being used with RISC OS 3. All you have to do is to copy the program onto your hard disc, and re-boot your machine. Open the directory in to which you saved the !Free program and then re-save your Desktop !Boot file. If you do not use the Desktop !Boot file, you should ensure that the application is "seen" by the filer after you switch on or reset your machine. Now you will be able to select the Free option on the menu of any old style filing system to see a Free graph just like the ADFS and RAMFS graphs.

The default templates are like the NewLook versions of the templates. If you prefer the old 2D style templates, then click Menu over the Apps icon, select Open '$' from the menu, then open the Resources directory in the directory viewer that appears. Open the Free directory in this viewer, and then double-click on your copy of the Free application while holding down Shift. Delete the templates file from your copy of Free and copy Resources:$.Resources.Free.Templates into it. When you run Free now, it will use the old 2D style templates.
