NewLook version 1.00
by Acorn Computers Ltd

This disc provides NewLook 1.00, an application which provides a new
appearance for the RISC OS 3 Desktop. In future versions of RISC OS
this is likely to become the default setting.

To install NewLook, and for information on how to use it, double-click
on the NewLook icon in the root directory of this disc. This will open
a Filer window containing the NewLook application and the directories
OldTempl, TemplApp1, TemplApp2, and TemplSupp. Select NewLook in this
directory display, click on Menu, move to the submenu entitled
'NewLook', and choose Help on that menu. You must copy the NewLook
application from this directory display onto your hard drive before
you use it.

NewLook is only recommended for users with hard discs, as loading from
floppy disc is quite cumbersome and the result is aesthetic rather
than functional. Considerable memory is also consumed at run time.

This disc also provides 3D template files for the two applications
discs and the support disc. In order to apply these to your
applications, proceed as follows:

Open your App1 directory on your hard disc. Open the TemplApp1
directory on this disc. Click Menu over the TemplApp1 directory, and
choose 'Select all'. Press Select over the TemplApp1 directory, and
drag all of the selected applications into the App1 directory. Release
Select. This will copy replacement Template files from TemplApp1 into
App1.

Repeat this procedure with App2 and TemplApp2.

Repeat this procedure with Support and TemplSupp.

Any applications now started up from these directories should have 3D
dialogue box elements.

NewLook contains replacement template files for all ROM applications
to give them 3D buttons etc. Loading these does not affect tasks which
are already running (eg. the Filer, the Task manager). In order to get
3D dialogue boxes on these you must RMLoad the files BorderUtil and
ROMApps3D from within NewLook as part of your machine boot sequence,
before the desktop starts up. Choose Help from the directory display
menu for more information on how to do this. After BorderUtil has been
loaded do not reload, reinitialise or RMFaster the window manager.
