Set Tools - Customised 3D Desktop (RISC OS 3)
by Richard G. Hallas

This application allows you to select any one of five different sets of so-called tool icons. These are the icons from which windows are built.

You can choose the standard RISC OS 3 tools, the old RISC OS 2 versions, or an attractive new set of 3D tools which 'press' when you click on them. There are three versions of the new tools: normal size ones which contain 'metal rod' scroll bar sliders, miniatures for a little more window-space on the Desktop, and a set of normal-size 3D 'all-metal' raised tools which look solid.

Clicking on the application opens a dialogue box from which you can choose between the five different sets of window tools.

When you have made a selection, click on OK, and the Desktop will be redrawn with the new tools. Once you are happy with a particular set, just click on the Close icon to remove the application. The window tools will remain active (since they are essentially a set of sprites which have been loaded into the Wimp pool).

If you would like to install a particular set of tool icons each time you turn on your computer, just arrange for the SetTools application to be seen by the Filer at start-up. You can do this either by sticking SetTools on the Pinboard or SuperBD, or by opening the directory (e.g. your root directory) which contains SetTools.

Set Tools achieves this automatic installation by writing to its own !Boot file (with details of which sets of sprites to use) each time you click on its OK icon to make a new selection.
