PC Emulator Configuration Files
G.R.Gilmore

This application contains examples of the files discussed in the DOS Survival Guide, Parts 1 to 3, published in RISC User 6:4 to 6:6.

Double-clicking on the application simply opens a Filer window on the application's contents.

Copying the Files Automatically
-------------------------------

The Obey file "CopyFiles" will try to copy the files to appropriate directories automatically, but may try to copy to the wrong directories on your machine. It is up to you to edit the file if you wish to use it.

Copying the Files Manually
--------------------------

If you wish to use the configuration files copy:
AUTOEXEC
CONFIG/SYS
CONFIG/EMS
to the root directory of your DOS hard disc. You will then need to rename AUTOEXEC to AUTOEXEC/BAT using RISC OS Filer (or to AUTOEXEC.BAT at the DOS command line.)

If you wish to use the key set utilities - copy:
CAPLOK/COM
NUMLOK/COM
to the UTILS directory. (Those files were created using the Basic program given in the DOS Survival Guide, Part 3.)

If you intend to use the !PC_EMS application copy:
!PC_EMS into your PC directory
Sprites into the !Sprites file in your existing !PCEm directory

RISC>DOS is the Basic program to convert RISC OS text files to DOS format.
Copy it into your PC directory. Use only when the file is loaded into Edit or DeskEdit and has the input focus.

All this can be done automatically by double-clicking on the !Examples icon, provided all directories have been set up as described in The DOS Survival Guide Parts 1 to 3.
