3D Icons for RISC OS 3
by Neil Fazakerley

Running this application opens a directory viewer containing a sprite file and an Obey file.

These files allow three-dimensional Desktop icons to be used on RISC OS 3 in high resolution 16 or 256 colour modes, such as 20 and 27. Their design was prompted by a desire to have pressable icons that 'pushed through' in a realistic way, like everyday buttons, rather than just being 3D. To see their full effect, after installing, try pressing the scroll arrows or the resize icon, for example. They also add a much more professional feel to many otherwise plain looking commercial applications.

To install the icons on your Desktop, just double-click on the Obey file, !RunMe. You won't see any difference at first, but if you take a small window and slowly 'wipe' the screen with it you will reveal the new window surrounds as the screen is redrawn.

To install the icons permanently, you can include the contents of the file !RunMe in a Desktop Boot file, as created via the Task manager menu. See the User Guide for more details on creating Boot files.
