Example Notate File in Maestro Format
Fugue in A major, Op 87 N7 by Dmitri Shostakovich

Running this application opens a directory viewer containing a Maestro file, a relocatable module Piano and the multitasking Maestro file player AutoPlay. If you double-click on the module, then playing the Maestro file via Maestro or the AutoPlay application on this disc will make sure the Piano voice is used in preference to the Archimedes WaveSynth-Beep voice. Note that if the Piano voice module is loaded, then the normal beep voice will be replaced. If you want to return to your normal beep, press F12 and enter *ChannelVoice 1 1.

The piece was entered in Notate and exported in Maestro file format. It is set up to use the Piano voice module (which doesn't sound too much like a piano), but sounds reasonable under WaveSynth-Beep. Although it is quite long at 99 bars, entry took only a comparatively short time because of Notate's helpful copy, paste and transpose editing options. Being a fugue, the subject (the main 'tune') occurs many times at various pitches, and it was an easy matter to copy and transpose this between the three parts.

For help on how to use the AutoPlay application, click Menu over the !AutoPlay icon, and choose the Help option from within the App. '!AutoPlay' submenu.

The music was entered by Richard Hallas, and the Piano module comes with the Notate package. It is reproduced here with permission.
