Audio Cassette Inlay Creator
by Alan Wrigley

Inlay enables you to design and print inlays for standard audio cassettes.
These inlays will show, for each side of the cassette, the title, Dolby
setting, details of the recorded items, and some extra information if
required. Once this has all been entered as described below, the inlay can
be printed on any Epson-compatible printer.

When run, Inlay adds an icon to the icon bar. Clicking Menu over this icon
offers three options: Info displays a standard information box, Save choices
saves the current print colours (see below), while Quit quits the
application.

Clicking Select over the icon bar icon opens a window containing a number of
writeable icons. The window has two main sections, headed "Side A" and "Side
B". Each of these is identical, and contains the icons into which the
information is entered for that particular side of the cassette.

The title and Dolby setting for each side will be shown on the cassette
spine when printed. The 16 icons entitled "Items" are for the details of the
individual recorded items on each side, and will appear on the back of the
cassette (i.e. the large blank side). The two lines of extra information
will appear on the wrap-around section of the inlay.

Clicking Menu over the window displays a menu with the following options:
Save, Print, Colours and Clear. Save presents a standard RISC OS Save box
allowing you to save the complete inlay as an Inlay file (type &202).

The Print option prints the complete inlay on an Epson-compatible printer,
in the correct size and format. All that is then necessary is to cut out the
inlay and insert it into the cassette case, either in place of or over the
existing inlay. The program also prints out, below the inlay itself, the
titles of both sides in a format suitable for sticking onto the cassette
itself.

The Colours option is only of use if you have an Epson-compatible colour
printer, and allows you to choose separate colours for the titles, Dolby
settings, items and extra information. These are chosen from a submenu. The
default colours are black, but the defaults can be altered by first choosing
the colours you require from the submenus and then choosing the Save choices
option from the icon bar menu. The colours you have selected will be stored
in a file called DefChoices, which is read in each time Inlay is started up.
Colours are also stored with each inlay file, so loading a file into Inlay
(see below) will set the colours to those in force when the file was saved.
Note that the colours are only selected at the time of printing; the screen
colours do not change.

The Clear option erases all the data in the window and resets the program to
allow you to start again from scratch.

Double-clicking on a type &202 Inlay file will load that file into Inlay
(and install the application if not already installed, provided that it has
been "seen" by the Filer). Dragging an Inlay file to the icon bar icon or
into the Inlay window will also cause the file to be loaded. Only one file
can be edited at any one time.
