Monitor Test Utility

Note: This program uses the Trinity.Medium font. Fonts must therefore have been 'seen' before this program is run.

This program generates a sequence of six test screens for testing monitor performance. It attempts to display the sequence in modes 12, 27 and 20, which are 16 colour PAL, VGA and multisync modes respectively. The sequence will be displayed in each of the above modes that the system supports. Pressing Space steps to the next screen each time.

The first test screen is a plain screen. The screen colour can be cycled through the sequence Black, Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Magenta, Cyan, White using the up and down cursor keys. Pressing Return toggles the operation of the test, causing the up and down cursor keys to cycle through the border colour instead of the screen colour.

The second test screen is a grid of lines 80 OS co-ordinates apart.

The third test screen consists of blocks of parallel horizontal and vertical lines with varying spacing.

The fourth test screen is displayed in a 256 colour mode, and consists of a grid of each of the 256 colours available, plus a grey scale.

The fifth test screen consists of random characters filling the entire screen. The left and right cursor keys change the foreground colour, while the up and down cursor keys change the background colour.

The sixth and final screen displays text in the Trinity.Medium font at 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 point, in black on a white background.
