Tiger
by Graham Crow

This program provides extended information on directories. The program allows textual descriptions for each directory entry to be entered and saved in a 'TigerData' file within the directory.

When run, the program adds its icon to the icon bar, and opens a viewer window. Dragging a file or directory to the icon or viewer window results in the parent directory being displayed in the viewer window. If the directory contains a TigerData file, its contents will be used to display information on the contents of the directory.

TigerData files are of type TigerDat (&1FF) and are called TigerData. Tiger looks for the file by the name, and will accept TigerData files having any filetype, but the name must be correct. The only situation where TigerData files are treated differently to other filetypes is if a file of type TigerDat is run by double clicking on its icon, in which case the directory containing the file will be displayed in the viewer window; if Tiger was not running, then it is run automatically.

Within the viewer window, double clicking on a filename in the left-hand column has a similar effect to double clicking on the file's icon in a directory viewer. Files are run, directories are displayed in the viewer window, and applications are displayed in the viewer window if the Shift key is pressed or run otherwise. Clicking Select or Adjust on a filetype displays an information box on the file. Clicking Select in a textual description field positions the caret within the field, while clicking Adjust selects or deselects the field. The selected field can be copied to the field containing the caret by typing Ctrl-C on the keyboard.

Clicking Menu over the viewer window provides four options: Parent displays the parent directory, Save saves the TigerData file within the directory, Viewer opens a directory viewer for the directory, and Print prints the contents of the viewer window. Clicking Menu over the icon bar icon provides the usual Info and Quit options.
