Arc/IBM Disc Management Utility
by M.S.Hale

Note: This program only works with 720K (80 track) IBM discs; attempting to use it with any other IBM disc format may result in a corrupted disc.

This program allows files to be transferred between IBM and Arc format discs. The program also allows several operations to be carried out on PC format discs, such as Create/Delete Directory, Delete/Rename/View File, plus some low level operations such as Show FAT.

The program assumes that any IBM discs will be in drive 0, and that any Arc discs will also be in drive 0. The IBM drive can be changed by modifying line 70 of !ArcIBM.!RunImage. Note that all operations on Arc discs are performed using the standard OS calls, so you can use the program with any disc drive (including a hard disc), or even with other filing systems (eg. RAM disc, Econet, SCSI).

By default the program operates on the current drive and filing system. These are set in !ArcIBM.!Run before the program starts. Changing the 'ADFS' command allows a different filing system to be used, while changing the 'Drive 0' command allows a different disc drive (including a hard disc) to be used. Note that the Mount, Compact, Format and Namedisc options are filing system specific, and may not work with other filing systems.

Because of the very different formats used by the Arc and IBM discs, you are strongly advised to make backups of all discs which you use with this program.
