Things to be noted when using TutenEd
-------------------------------------

The numbers from 1 to 5 on the top lefthand side of the screen show which
number key/door corresponds with which colour.

The current screen is highlighted in white. Due to the way the data is
stored in the level files, you can only edit one screen at a time. Four
screens are displayed at once to help you to align your tunnels correctly.

Key summary:
		Z	move cursor/scroll left
		X	move cursor/scroll right
		/	move cursor/scroll down
		'	move cursor/scroll up
E	start editing if in 'scroll' mode
N	end TutenEd session and save file
F	finish editing screen and revert to 'scroll' mode
W	fill square with a wall block
		SPACE	blank square
K	place a key (you need to specify which colour)
S	mark the spider's path (you need to mark the other end)
C	place a crown (one per level)
R	place a rock (one per level)
D	place a door (you need to specify which colour)

Make sure that your tunnels join up to the tunnels on the next-door screens,
and don't run off the edges of the pyramid - this can crash the game.

It is not a good idea to define spiders which run right up to the edge of
the screen because this tends to make life very dangerous for players
entering the screen at that point!

All 'vertical' tunnels will be filled by ladders. Putting rocks, doors or
crowns in such tunnels is not a good idea either. TutenEd cannot stop you
doing this since it is hard for it to calculate which tunnels are actually
vertical. Putting keys on ladders seems to be all right - though the blue
key won't show up very well.

TutenEd will not allow you to save your level (by pressing 'N' for eNd)
until it calculates that all the keys and doors which should be present have
been defined. Quitting the program by pressing ESCAPE will save the
passageways, spiders, rocks and crowns which have already been defined, but
keys and doors will not be saved and you should on no account attempt to
play such an 'aborted' level in !TutenTomb until you have reloaded it and
defined doors and keys. Likewise TutenEd insists that every screen should
have a rock, a spider and a crown on it. Blank levels are created with
rocks and crowns, in the default positions, but otherwise filled with walls
so there is no room for spiders. The effect of this is that once you have
started to edit a screen you cannot leave until you have added a spider and
a space for it to run in (vertical or horizontal).

TutenEd will not allow you to place one object on top of another or in the
path of a spider. If you wish to change the object which is located at a
certain position, you must first 'delete' the original object by putting a
space or a wall over it. However in order to move a rock, crown or spider
to an unoccupied square, you need only place it in its new position and the
square at the old position will automatically be deleted; if the object was
a rock then the square will be filled in with wall, otherwise it will remain
as an empty space. To change the speed of a spider while leaving it in the
same position, you will have to delete it, by 'rubbing out' one of the
squares in its path with a space, and then redefine it back in its old
position with the new speed.

The screen initially highlighted (Screen 3) when the editor is loaded is the
screen on which the player will start the game. The starting position is
marked by the figure of a stick-man which flashes blue and yellow. You are
not allowed to delete this marker, which is present to ensure that the
player has a blank square to start on.

The purple door is the final door, which will not be opened until all the
crowns have been collected; thus you are required to position it next to
the exit, i.e. on Screen 16 - otherwise the game would be too easy!

The files in the 'Default' directory, called Backinit and Backread, are
backups of the 'Default' level. Currently, there is no way to create a
level based on the default but saved under a different name - you need to
create a directory with the appropriate name in the 'levels' directory and
then copy over into it the contents of the directory you have edited. If
you alter the Default level, you can restore it by copying the 'Backinit'
file as 'init' and the 'Backread' file as 'read'. Make sure you actually
make copies and don't just rename them. These backup files have been
protected to prevent accidents, so you will need to unprotect the new
'init'and 'read' file before you can edit them again.

Every time you edit a level the high score for that level is reset to zero.
