!16Tiles E.T.Emms
********

In this puzzle there are 16 Tiles-hence the name. Each tile
consists of a square which is divided into four by the diagonals.
The four sectors are coloured by selections from just two colours
(we have chosen red and blue). If one considers the binary
representation of the decimal numbers 0 to 15 and consider red to
represent 0 and blue to represent 1 then each binary number has
its corresponding tile. For example the decimal number 11 is 1101
in binary or is BBRB in our colours. And the tile is coloured
correspondingly with B in the West sector, B in the South, R in
the East and B in the North. To maintain the orientation (the
tiles must not be rotated) they are marked with an arrow. It is
well worth while making your own tiles from wood (or any other
appropriate and available material) and colouring them with paint
or crayon. A tile size of 1 inch square is a reasonable size.
Although solving the puzzle on the display screen is amusing, it
is not as good as handling real pieces!!
In the puzzle as presented you are asked to place the 16
tiles so that where they touch they match in colour and they also
match the provided border colours.
