The idea of the game is to score as many points as possible, whilst moving

your snake around the screen. By eating various coloured powerpills, you

can gain various bonuses.

(44)On later levels you must avoid the various barriers that have been

(44) positioned to hinder your movements.

@@Each powerpill provides the following:

@@@@(12)Green: Makes your snake grow longer

@@@@(51)Magenta: Provides an extra life

@@@@(63)White: Jump to the next level

@@@@(52)Blue: Gain a 1000*level score bunus

@@The next page describes the iconbar menu options:-

@@(61)Password:
@@@@(44)Enter a password in order to start on later levels
@@@@(44)Note that if you start on later levels, you do not score as much
@@@@(44)as playing continuously from the start.

@@(61)Choices:
@@@@(44)This takes you to a secondary menu, which allows you to
@@@@(44)make various changes to the gameplay of !Snake.

@@(61)Players:
@@@@(44)Toggles between one or two players.
@@@@(44)On the one player option, levels 6 above sometimes contain a
@@@@(44)rogue (computer controlled) snake which must also be avoided.
@@@@(44)Two players simply have to avoid each other.
@@@@(44)Note: On the two player option, when one player dies, a rogue
@@@@(44)snake will always replace the second (deceased) player.

@@(61)Quit:
@@@@(44)Return to the Risc OS desktop.

The Various 'Choices' options are:-

@@(61)Superfast:
@@@@(44)Toggling this option on and off makes your snake move at a
@@@@(44)constant 'Superfast' speed. You are less likely to survive as
@@@@(44)long, but receive double score whilst playing with this option
@@@@(44)on.

@@(61)Long tail:
@@@@(44)If this option is on, your tail will constantly grow,
@@@@(44)irrespective of collecting green pills.

@@(61)No reverse:
@@@@(44)If this option is on, you cannot reverse into yourself.
@@@@(44)This makes it slightly easier to play, and thus you will
@@@@(44)only score 70% of your normal score.

@@(61)Sound:
@@@@(44)Toggle sound on or off.

@@(61)Define keys:
@@@@(44)This option allows you to define your own keys.
@@@@(44)Note that both one and two player options have their own key
@@@@(44)selections, so that different key combinations may be used with
@@@@(44)either setting.

@@(61)Save:
@@@@(44)This option saves the current settings back to disc so that
@@@@(44)you don't have to reselect them next time you load SuperSnake.
@@@@(44)The settings saved are: Superfast, Long tail, No reverse,
@@@@(44)Sound status and the key definitions.

@Additional notes and comments:

@@(44)If you don't press a key for more than 15 seconds, barriers will
@@(44)appear, which prevent you from going off one side of the screen
@@(44)and reappearing on the other.

@@(15)The rogue snake is capable of coiling himself up!

@@(44)If you type in a password in order to skip levels, you will no
@@(44)longer see future passwords on completing subsequent levels.
@@(44)You will also only score level 1 points on all levels.

@@(15)There IS a cheat mode!
@@(15)A hint: The password is an anagram of PCVSNAKE, followed by two
@@(15)digits to indicate the number of lives required, followed by
@@(15)another two digits to choose the starting level.
@@(15)eg.PCVSNAKE9903 would give you 99 lives and start on level 3.

@@(44)The high score table is saved back to disc, if you should be
@@(44)lucky enough to score enough points to get onto it.
