Styx
====

This is the game Styx, written by Tom Cooper. This version (Demo 2.5 from 22/2/92, acccording to the source code) is essentially the same as that available elsewhere on the Internet, except that it has had a few bugs fixed and minor improvements made, as well as including this help file.

This version has been tested on RISC OS 3.7 and Select, although it is expected that it will run fine on any machine from RISC OS 3 to 5 (With a little help from Aemulor Pro).

Controls
========

On the main menu:

* P will allow you to enter a password
* Space will start the game on the first level

In-game:

* ; and . move the cursor up and down

How to play
===========

Draw a line from one wall to another and the smallest side of the line will be filled in; fill in enough of the screen and the level will be complete. However you need to watch out for the flying sparkly things - if these touch a partially completed line then you're toast. The yellow blobs are another hazard - although harmless to partially completed lines, if you bump into one yourself then you lose a life. Running out of time will also cause you to lose a life.

Every so often a powerup will spawn. If collected in time, a heart will give you an extra life, and a snow flake will temporarily remove all the nasties from the level.

Note that you can place bends in the lines as you're drawing them, and you can destroy sparklies by trapping them on the side of a line that's about to get filled in.

This game was originally written by Tom Cooper, and then subsequently patched by me (Jeffrey Lee) to, erm, make it work. If you need to contact me, you can do so at phlamethrower@acornarcade.com, or by placing a banana in your ear and suspending yourself by your feet from the top of the empire state building.
