!DoomEd v0.18 Installation
--------------------------
Installation instructions for the !DoomEd front end.
Very quickly... IWADs are the main Doom levels in the original games.
PWADs are (mainly PD?) extra levels written by 3rd parties.

Configuration
-------------
1 Open the directory with your !DoomII app in it.
(If you have a previous version of !DoomEd - delete it!)
2 Copy the !DoomII app from this archive *over* your copy of !DoomII

If this is replacing a previous version of !DoomEd then you've finished!

4 Setting Up Main IWAD files

Main Doom IWADs *must* be named as follows:
  * Put your DoomI and DoomII IWADs inside !DoomII

The rest is automated from v0.17 onwards - but if you want to do it manually...

  * Rename them 'Doom1' and 'Doom2' respectively.
  * Filetype DoomI IWAD to '0D8'
  * Filetype DoomII IWAD to '0D9'
The shareware IWAD is treated as DoomI IWAD but you can't play PWADs with it!
PWAD files can have *any* name. DOS extension is irrelavent as long as the
  filetype is correct (see below).

Thats all folks :)

PWADs
-----
* NEW from v0.08b - auto renaming, filetyping and AltWad format options! Make sure
the options in the WAD Manager window are ticked then drag a WAD file to !DoomEd
The manual method:
* Filetype Doom I PWADs to 0D8 (WadI)
* Filetype DoomII PWADs to 0D9 (WadII)
* Put the level information file (usually called 'wadname/TXT' in the same
directory as the PWAD and rename it 'wadname-'
(eg if the PWAD is called 'BloodFest' then name the info file 'BloodFest-')

Note : From v0.07 you have the choice of automatic renaming and filetyping. Also
from v0.08b the 'AltWad' format is introduced. This includes the text
information file in the main WAD file.
WAD files not filetyped 0D8 or 0D9 will be intelligently guessed!
Also files named 'wadname/WAD' will have the extension removed and
if 'wadname/TXT' exists it will be renamed 'wadname-' and filetyped 'text'.

eg If example Bloodfest DoomI PWAD is loaded
                 then 'Bloodfest/WAD /WR 88k Data ...'
                       'Bloodfest/TXT /WR 1k Data ...'

          will become 'Bloodfest /WR 88k WadI ...'
                       'Bloodfest- /WR 1k Text ...'

or with AltWad 'Bloodfest /WR 89k WadI ...'

Misc
----
* !LongFiles and !X-Files filer patches are recommend for use with this app.
  Both available Hensa, Demon etc...

Disclaimer
-----------
This will not work with the shareware version of Doom - register an original!
If any of this crashes your machine and eats your data - it was your fault
not mine but, I *might* help you if you ask nicely ;)

Enjoy,
