                      Archimedes Mouse Patience (ArchiPat)
                      ====================================

Program History
---------------

Version 1: Written for the BBC model 'B' with AMX mouse, using MODE 4
(B&W) graphics (all that the first AMX ROM could handle).
Version 1a: Improved to use the AMX SuperART ROM, giving MODE 1 (4 colour)
graphics with a 6502 2nd processor or shadow screen memory.
This version was on sale as telesoftware on the ViewFax area of
Prestel for a while, until I got fed up of not being paid the
by a royalties by a certain Benjamin Rietti.
Version 2: Alternative game version (game B).
Version 3: Rewritten for the Archimedes (Arthur 0.3), combining both games.
Version 3a: Music added.
Version 3b: Minor modifications to run as an application under RISC OS.

Apologies:
----------

1. For the crude graphics: they were the state of the art for the AMX mouse
on a BBC B, and later the limitations on the size of the mouse pointer
   intruded.
2. For the non-use of the Archimedes WIMP: due to a combination of
Arthur 0.3 and no Arthur PRM at the time.

Acknowledgements
----------------

1. To G F Handel for the music (parts of the Messiah if you didn't recognise
   it).
2. To Crosbie Fitch and Beebug for the runtime music PROCs (RISC User volume
   1 number 9).
3. To whoever invented the games of patience.

Known Bugs
----------

1. The line spacing in the instructions gets messed up at times - this
only occurs when the program is run under the RISC OS desktop, and
seems to be a 'feature' of the WIMP 2.00.
