TrackPlay
This program is the PD music player which comes with the !Vivaldi! package (more about that later).

With this program you can play SoundTracker, ProTracker, TeqMusic, Tracker and MusDump music files; sound samples may be extracted from these files and saved as STSample (Tracker sample) files.

4-channel Digital Symphony files can be played if you convert them using DSConvert or some other conversion program.

Using this program is simple: clicking SELECT on the iconbar icon opens all closed windows and closes all open ones; ADJUST takes you into the music monitor if there is any music playing.

To learn how to use this program, run Acorn's Help application and experiment.

Note: To save samples out, click on the sample to save (in the Sample Info window). If the sample is saveable (i.e. if its length is more than zero) it will be highlighted and a save box will appear.

Another note or two: The playing time is approximate, given in minutes and seconds. Also, when in a playlist, any position jumps are turned into pattern breaks so that the tune cannot play indefinitely.

***Music monitor controls***
F - Jump forwards one pattern
B - Jump backwards one pattern
P - Pause music
C - Continue music
CTRL+L/R/M/A - Set stereo
S+0/1 - Speakers off/on
E - Examine samples
Z - Fix music
Q - Kill music
F1 - Highest quality music
F2 - Medium quality (normal)

Right arrow - Move to next tune in playlist
Up/down arrows - Change volume
Escape/SELECT - Exit from monitor

***!Vivaldi! information***
!Vivaldi! is the package which this program is a small part of. It is a music creation and sample editing suite, comparable to Digital Symphony and Desktop Tracker, although with fewer effects than Digital Symphony at present.

It costs a mere 10, and a PD version of the editor is available from me - write to me, sending a blank disk and return postage, to get the latest version (3.00 or above).

For details of the package, the PD version, or to buy it, write to:

Cheques should be made payable to Andrew Wood.

You can also e-mail me at mccu5ajw@fs2.ee.umist.ac.uk although this will only be until about 1999. Also try vivaldi@ps.cus.umist.ac.uk - that might be valid for longer.

By the way, I already know that clicking ADJUST for the music monitor doesn't work on Risc PC's, so don't bother telling me. I don't know why, it calls the same code as selecting the menu item - ie it calls the OS command "musixplayer_eventlist". If I ever get a Risc PC I might look into the problem...

...perhaps if you buy Vivaldi I will have the money to do so... :)
