URI Handler

As promised to the readers of c.s.a.programmer, we have written and are set
to release a first draft of the proposed API for a URI handler module.

This first draft is currently available as
http://www.art.acorn.co.uk/SALES/DEVELOPERS/resource/docs/api/drafturi.txt ;
please be aware that it is incomplete and subject to change, although
changes to be made are most likely to take the form of extensions to the
core API we describe rather than changes to it. Please download, and feed
any comments back to me so that they can be discussed with the authors.

It's about time that a URI handling mechanism was standardised, so your
comments can help raise the profile of this project and speed development of
the module; also if you feel you need any particular features over and above
the current draft spec to support your products, now is the time to make
your proposals known.

I'll be doing some work from home over Newtonmas (with breaks for any good
films and parties, of course ;-) ), so I'll still be emailable from now
through into 1997.
