!TopImport
----------

Drag in a file to convert it into TopModel ASCII file. You can set the scale
factor for conversion. The object should be big enought to prevent any loss
in precision.
TopModel support several formats, but some of them (3DS, GEO, Sculpt3D)
change accordingly to the package used to save it.
You can find a list of 3Dmodel files from various sources.
If something goes wrong, see if your file match the general characteristics of
its format.
Some files cannot be easily recognised, so you have to force their file types.
Currently supported formats and their limitations (v 1.15):

3DS (Autodesk 3D Studio ASCII file format):
Camera is not supported. Colours and materials are identified, but can be
wrong. In this case, please edit them manually. Additional lights not
  supported.

IllSweep (!Illusionist sweeps &CA5)

IllVect (!Illusionist vectors &CA6)
Lights and textures are not supported.

RendBend (!RenderBender II file format &D59)
  Lights not supported.

DXF
  Reads 3DFACE and POLYLINE

Fems2 (!Fems2 file format)
  Imports model from !Fems2 application.

Imagine (TDDD Impulse Imagine file format)
Materials, lights and textures not supported.

GEO (General 3D format, from Amiga and PC)
Binary file format still under developement.

Sculpt3D ("Byte by byte" modelling package for Amiga and Mac)

Envisage ("Byte by byte" modelling package for PC and UNIX based machines)
  Materials not supported.

TPoly (general interchange format)

LightWave (NewTech)
  Textures not supported

X3D (UNIX)
  Colours not supported

NB: Some formats do not care about faces' orientation (i.e. Fems2, Imagine, GEO, Envisage
DXF and Sculpt3D). Loaded in TopModel, they need to be "corrected" using the
Repair Normal Tools (in particular Spatial coherency).
Furthermore you may need to join points to obtain smooth shading.
NB1:VRML files must be dragged directly into TopModel to be loaded.
NB2:Some models need Join tool to smooth surfaces. If your model looks faceted, then enter the
Edit section and press the Join button.
