Brief introduction
==================

  StrongED is a general purpose text, file and program editor for RISC
  OS. It may be used for writing an HTML page, for writing emails, for
  writing text that you later propose to transfer to some other program
  such as Ovation Pro, Techwriter.

  Alternatively it can be used to write Obey files (OS command scripts),
  Basic programs or source code in a variety of languages. It can also
  be useful for looking at the contents of non-text files, to see if
  there is anything meaningful!

  Please note, StrongED 4.69 requires RISC OS 3.50 or better.

The StrongED Primer
===================

  This release of StrongED comes with a StrongHelp manual called Primer
  that describes how to install / upgrade StrongED. In addition there is
  a quick introduction to help those of you not familiar with StrongED
  get started.

  To view the Primer you'll need the StrongHelp application. StrongED's
  main manual is in StrongHelp format too, and StrongHelp is also very
  useful when programming for RISC OS. Use of StrongHelp is therefore
  highly recommended.

  If you don't have StrongHelp installed on your machine then you can
  get it here: http://www.stronged.iconbar.com/fjg/index.html#StrongHelp

The BaseMode keymap
===================

  Also included is an ArtWorks file that shows all the key bindings that
  are defined in BaseMode (StrongED's default mode). To view the keymap
  you will need either the full, commercial, ArtWorks application or the
  free AWViewer which can be downloaded here:
  http://www.mw-software.com/software/awmodules/awrender.html

Install / Upgrade
=================

  For those of you that are unable, or unwilling, to install StrongHelp
  there are text files describing how to install / upgrade StrongED.

  When you are installing StrongED for the first time please read the
  Install file. When upgrading from an older version please refer to the
  Upgrade file.

Enjoy,
