			!Help for SchemEd Installer 1.08
			--------------------------------

Before you run !Install
-----------------------
Make sure the Filer has 'seen' any existing previous installation of !SchemEd. Note that
the !Install program assumes that any existing !SchemEd, !SymLibEd, and !FontEdit are
all located in the same directory (as recommended in the !SchemEd Help manual). The
installer will then upgrade the applications in the same location.
The best way to do this is to open the Filer window containing the applications before
running !Install.

If you are installing for the first time and there are no previous copies visible to the
Filer, then you need not worry about this. If installing the applications in their own
separate directory, then you will need to create one before running !Install.

Running !Install
----------------
You can run !Install from anywhere on your machine, but are advised not to run it from
the actual directory where the applications are about to be installed.

Double-click on !Install, then click on the iconbar icon to open the installer window.

If you have an existing installation to upgrade, and it has been seen by the Filer, the
writable icon should contain the directory pathname where your existing copies of
!SchemEd/!SymLibEd/!FontEdit/!SimProbe are located - do not alter this.

If installing for the first time the writable icon will be empty. Drag the adjacent
sprite icon to the directory window where you want the applications to be installed.
This will enter the installation directory pathname into the writable icon for you.
If a suitable directory does not yet exist, you will first have to create one.

Installation options
--------------------
These will all be faded if you are installing for the first time and are irrelevant,
since you will need to install everything supplied.

For existing installations, the options should be unfaded.

Ticking the 'Retain backup' is wise, just in case, and a complete copy of your existing
installation will be created in a folder named "_Old_Sch" in the CSD, usually the root
directory of HardDisc4, before any file copying takes place.
You will *definitely* need to keep a backup if you have any old Selection files you may
want to use with the new version.
If you already have an "_Old_Sch" directory from a previous installation, you should
rename it if you do not want it to be overwritten.

The other three options allow you to keep existing files that you may have made valuable
additions to and do not want to have overwritten by those supplied with the new version.

Any format/header updates to retained component symbol libraries (previously performed
manually using the 'LibUpdate' program) are now performed transparently by the Installer
itself (without altering in any way the actual contents of the Libraries).

When happy with the settings, click on 'Install' to perform the installation/upgrade.

You can abort the installation at any time by clicking on the 'Abort' button.

Finally you can delete !Install when you have checked that the applications all work.
