You must load !Printers before attempting to print. To print from Windows to RISCOS via !smbserver to the currently selected printer. You need to select a printer driver in Windows when setting up the network printer in exactly the same way as you would do for any other printer.

Click "Add Printer" from Printer Settings and select network printer.

Enter path name of printer and click "yes" for "Do you want to print from MS-DOS based programs".

Click "Capture Printer Port".

Then select a device. e.g. LPT2.

The path would be \\drhb1\printers in the example in 4.2. If you forget to capture a printer port it can be done after the printer is installed by opening the printer's properties window, selecting the Details tab and clicking on "Capture Printer Port".

!smbserver uses the command specified in smb/conf to print a file. (See "print command =" in smb/conf). The example calls the file called lpr in <samba$dir>.Resources which copies the file to the printer and then deletes it. I have come across and lpr client for RISCOS but not actually tried it.

Currently queryring the printer queue will always show an empty printer queue. I've not thought of a good way to do this yet since I think the information needed is in the !printers application rather than being available via a SWI.
