Quark no-disc utility 1.00
--------------------------

This utility allows you to run the original version of Quark without having the copy-protected Quark disc in the floppy drive.

Installation:
* Make sure Quark is installed somewhere to your hard disc (or hostfs if using an emulator)
* Copy the supplied '!' folder over Quark's folder to apply the patch

Usage:
* Make sure your floppy drive is empty
* Run Quark as normal

Notes:
* Only been tested under emulation with ArcEm and Arculator. Not guaranteed to work on real hardware!
* This is only a no-disc patch - it doesn't make the game RiscPC compatible. There are already other patches for that.
* Uses of ArcEm or other emulators on slow host machines (e.g. most RISC OS ones!) may find that Quark sits on the Zygotic logo without playing any sound. This seems to happen when the game is running too slowly - try tweaking your emulator settings to boost the speed (e.g. on ArcEm try using the palettised display driver, with auto updateflags enabled)

This utility is public domain - feel free to modify/distribute as you wish.

The 'source' file is the module source code. It operates by hooking onto the SWI vector and intercepting calls to ADFS_DiscOp 0 (verify). It then uses an internal lookup table to decide whether the call should fail or succeed. This should make it easy to adapt to work with other games that rely on the original disc having specific corrupt sectors.
