            !Pluto v3.18   (24 Oct 2020)
            ============================

This zip file contains a complete copy of !Pluto.

Please read this file before installing.

Installation for New Users
==========================

To install Pluto for the first time, drag the !Pluto application from this
zip file to any directory on your harddrive. When started for the first time,
it will ask to create default Choices files and empty Article files. It will
then start up with a Welcome message in the Misc box for you to read.

Installation for Existing Users
===============================

See !Help file -> History of changes for details of the changes to Pluto.
Please take some time to read about the changes since your previous version.
Double-click on History in the zip file to see this Help page.

Version 3.16 included a major change to Pluto which raised the maximum
article size from 16MB to 256MB, as well as many minor changes.
If your Pluto is before v3.16, then a file conversion is required...
  ** Please read the Large Articles page in Help by double-clicking on **
  ** LargeArt in the zip file, *before* you install or run the new version. **

Version 3.17 includes a new attachment window format facility using Ctrl-F,
rather like the RISC OS 5 Filer. This has meant that the key to re-format the
text in a writable window is now Ctrl-J (for Justification).

To upgrade !Pluto to this version, first ensure that Pluto is NOT running.
Make sure that you have a backup of the complete !Pluto directory.
Then drag the !Pluto application from this zip file over the !Pluto
application on your harddrive.

Note that you may want to review your Mail & News backups settings.

After Installation
==================

When your installation is complete, please can you run PlutoStat,
which is a small simple program to collect some settings and statistics
from your Pluto system, which...
      Takes seconds to run.
      Collects no personal data from Pluto.
      Enables you to see the data collected (<2K text file).
      Caters for Articles being held outside !Pluto.
      Caters for Choices being in !Boot Choices.

It is hoped that these will give a better idea of how Pluto is being used,
in order to plan any future changes better.

To Run PlutoStat...
      Make sure Pluto is running.
      Double-click the PlutoStat program in the zip.
      It will ask for your name (optional).
         This is just in case we need to contact you.
      When Return is pressed, then it should open...
         The directory containing the PlutoStats file to drag from.
         A skeleton email to me.
      Drag the PlutoStats file to attach to the email and send.
      The file can be deleted after sending.
