The is a 32 bit compatible release of POPstar.
You'll need 32 bit versions of SocketWatch and SysLog to run it.

ModInst contains a suitable version of SocketWatch (0.04y). SocketWatch and
ModInst are distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL, any version; for
source, you should visit <URL:http://www.heenan.me.uk/acorn/download.html>.
If that site is down, you should contact joseph@heenan.me.uk; if that fails,
ds@youmustbejoking.demon.co.uk.

Please read the History file - it contains a list of all the recent changes
to POPstar.

*!* 2.04 *!*
*!* The way the transfer end command works is back to *!*
*!* The previous behaviour. See the new FetchEnd and *!*

*!* 2.03 *!*
*!* Note that the way the TransferEnd: command works *!*
*!* has changed. The line in choices must now point to *!*
*!* a file to be run, you can't list a *command *!*
*!* directly in there anymore. *!*

*!* 2.019 *!*
*!* The users file no longer allows 'space' to be *!*
*!* used as a column separator - this may cause *!*
*!* existing files not to work (change them to tabs) *!*

2.019 also uses Dickon Hood's SocketWatch module, which is included inside
!ModInst application. Please run !ModInst to add SocketWatch to your !System
before running this version of POPstar.

The users file have has more options that the 1.xx versions of POPstar -
see the example users file for information on the extra options.

**** KNOWN PROBLEMS - Argonet users only *****

Only one known problem, and this is the mechanism for skipping overly large
messages does _NOT_ work with the mail server at Argonet. This doesn't appear
to be a bug in POPstar itself, and Argonet (allegedly) acknowledge the
problem and say it has a workaround.

POPstar already uses the workaround (unless you have overridden
OverSizeMsgLines in the config file), yet apparently still shows the symptoms
of the problem - which is that when POPstar asks for a message header, it
gets the whole message, with the end result that the message gets fetched
twice in total.

NB. 99% of the above is second hand information, as I don't have an Argonet
account. I'm currently waiting for Argonet support to get back to me about
this - but it's now been over a week and I'm starting to lose hope.

For the moment, do not set a maximum size for users that are on Argonet's
mail server!

IMPORTANT
---------

Please read the Installation guide in the Help file first, if installing for
the first time or upgrading from a version prior to 1.20.

* If you really can't be bothered, the least you need to know is that if you
have a Risc PC style boot sequence you MUST MOVE your Choices and Users
  files into !Boot.Choices.POPstar.

* The Users and Choices files from old versions will work fine, however you
may want to look at some of the new options in the example Users / Choices
  files.

POPstar is giftware. Please read the Licence page in the Help file.

POPstar contains no front-end for configuration; instead you will need a text
editor. Therefore please follow the installation and setup sections before
running.

To read the manual you will need StrongHelp from
<http://sudden.recoil.org/stronghelp/>.
