Protected Mode CDROM driver for PC Cards
----------------------------------------

This driver is a protected mode (aka '32-bit') SCSI miniport driver for
Windows 95/98. It replaces the real-mode DOS CDROM driver HPC_CD.SYS, for
Windows 95/98 and for DOS boxes within windows.

The old DOS driver is still needed for CDROM access under Windows 3.1 or DOS.
It is also used when you use !MkBootDisc to create a start-up disc to install
Windows95/98 from CD.

Requirements:
This driver needs !PC v2.00 or greater - ie 'PCPro', to operate.

Installation:
This driver uses the same resources (the PC Card's 'HPC' interface), as other
drivers:
CD_HPC.SYS Aleph One real mode (DOS) CDROM driver
ARMASPI.SYS Andreas Walter's ASPI driver
ARMEDIT.SYS Alexander Thoukidides' ARMEdit driver

If these drivers are installed then Windows95/98 will usually complain about
'device conflicts', but be able to give you no help with resolving them. It
may be easier to REM out these drivers in your CONFIG.SYS file before
starting !PC and installing this driver.

If you leave these drivers in then everything will still work if you follow
the instuctions below carefully.

The installer will remove lines mentionning CD_HPC.SYS and MSCDEX from your
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT automatically (unless they are already REMmed
out).

1) unzip archive into C:\DRIVERS\CDROM. If you can't easily do this (e.g due
to this being on a Direct SCSI drive you cannot access from the desktop) then
unzip them onto another drive or a floppy disk - and change references to
C:\DRIVERS\CDROM below accordingly.

2) Start !PC and Windows95

3) Go to Control Panel. Double click on 'Add new hardware' to start the
wizard.

4) Select 'No' in aswer to 'Do you want windows to search for your new
hardware?' Click 'Next'.

5) Scroll down the window to select 'SCSI controllers'. Click 'Next'.

6) Click 'Have Disk', and either browse to, or type in C:\DRIVERS\CDROM and
click 'OK'. 'Aleph One RISCOS-hosted devices controller' should be listed.
click 'Next'.

7) If there is no conflict found you will a window showing the settings the
device is using. Click 'Next'. The driver will be installed. Click 'Finish'.
If there is a conflict you will see ' '. Follow the instructions below.

8) Next time you restart the computer the new CDROM driver will be installed.
