Magic Pockets patch
-------------------

By Martin Bazley, Wednesday 21st August 2013

This program, in much the same vein as my Inferno patch released earlier this year, removes the copy protection from the game Magic Pockets. No longer will you need to hunt out an ancient floppy disc just to play a game installed on your hard disc.

As before, it will *not* solve any of the game's many compatibility problems, so you still can't run it on an Iyonix.

You must (preferably legally) own a copy of Magic Pockets in order to run the patch - it does not contain any code or data from the game (apart from that necessary to decompress and decrypt the executable in order to patch it). This patch is distributed for preservation purposes only, enabling gamers to indulge without being hindered by anti-consumer technology, and Magic Pockets to be played on an emulator or other system without a physical floppy disc drive. Please don't use it to do anything naughty.

The patch does not require an original Magic Pockets floppy disc to run; indeed, one of its main purposes is to rescue people whose original floppy discs have died of old age.

When you run !PockPatch, a window will open in the centre of the screen. Drag the !Pockets application on your hard disc (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PATCH YOUR ORIGINAL MAGIC POCKETS FLOPPY DISC) to this window. A few seconds later, an error box should open giving the non-error message that the patch was successful.

These are the operations that the patch performs:

 * It renames the original !Pockets.Pockets file to !Pockets.PocketsO.
 * It loads and decompresses the aforementioned Pockets file, patches it, and
saves it in the place where the original was formerly located.

To revert the patch, delete the new Pockets file, and rename the PocketsO file to Pockets.
