Introduction
------------
LADSPAMan allows the installation and configuration of plugins that are used
by LADSPA compliant applications.

LADSPA
------
LADSPA stands for Linux Audio Developer's Simple Plugin API and provides a
mechanism to add new effects or tools to applications which support it. More
details can be found at http://www.ladspa.org.

Getting started
---------------

Installation
------------
LADSPAMan can be installed and used in two different ways:

Stand alone
Simply drag the !LADSPAMan icon to where you want it to be on your hard disc.

From within Configure
LADSPAMan will integrate into the RISC OS 4 and above Configure system. To
install take the following steps:

For RISC OS 4.0x:
 - Manually copy !LADSPAMan into !Boot.RO400Hook.Res.Configure

For RISC OS 4.2x and above:
 - Open the Configure window by double clicking !Boot or choosing Choices... 
   from the Task manager menu
 - Click on the Sound icon
 - Drag !LADSPAMan to the Sound configuration window and it will install. A
   new LADSPA option will appear.

Loading LADSPAMan
-----------------
LADSPAMan can be loaded in two different ways:

Stand alone
-----------
For stand alone operation LADSPAMan is loaded by double clicking on the
LADSPAMan icon in the filer display.

Once loaded an the LADSPAMan icon will appear on the iconbar in the standard
way.

Configure
---------
If LADSPAMan has been installed in Configure then double click !Boot or
choose Choices... from the Task menu. This will display the Configure window.

Click on Sound to display the Sound configuration window and this will show a
LADSPA option. Click this to launch LADSPAMan.

Note that RISC OS 4.02 users will not have a separate Sound configuration
window.

Showing the installed plugins
-----------------------------
If LADSPAMan has been run from Configure then this window will already be
displayed. If not, clicking Select on the iconbar icon will display a window
which shows the plugins that are currently installed.

Name
The name of the plugin.

Version
The version number of the plugin.

Description
A short description of the plugin.

Clicking the Finish button will close this window.

Plugin details
--------------
Clicking the Details... button in the Installed plugins window will display
further information about the highlighted plugin.

This information include the name, maker and copyright status of any effects
that the plugin provides.

Installing new plugins
----------------------
New plugins are installed by dragging a plugin directory to the Installed
plugins window.

The new plugin will then appear in the window.

Removing plugins
----------------
A plugin is removed by highlighting it in the list and clicking on Delete.

A confirmation prompt will appear and clicking OK will remove the plugin.
Note that this operation cannot be undone, unless the plugin is reinstalled,
so you should be sure you want to remove the plugin before taking this
action.

The iconbar menu
----------------
Note that this menu will not be available if LADSPAMan has been run from
Configure.

Clicking Menu over the LADSPAMan icon on the iconbar will display this menu.
The following items are available.

Info
Moving the mouse pointer over this item displays the About this program
window which displays version information about LADSPAMan.

Help
This will display the help supplied with the application.

Quit
Choosing this item will cause LADSPAMan to exit.
