Instructions for use:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brief Instructions for using !Foods
Foods allows you to examine the nutritional and dietary content of various
foods. If required, these can be compared with the recommended daily amounts
for a healthy diet.
More advanced users can also create whole meals by dragging various food
items into a meal window.
Loading:
~~~~~~~~
1. Load the application by double-clicking on !Foods
2. The icon will appear on the icon bar.

In Use:
~~~~~~~
Click on the Food icon (on the icon bar) to obtain the 'food information window'.
At present it will be blank.
If you press MENU (the middle mouse button) you can obtain a small menu which
allows you to either print the currently shown data or select a new food item.
Moving the mouse pointer to the right from 'Select food' lets you choose a type
of food (currently over 450 to choose from).
Once the chosen food has been selected, the information window will be updated
to contain the relevant information contained within 100g of the chosen food.
If you wish to change the amount, click SELECT in the weight icon and enter a
new value. When you press RETURN, the reset of the information will be updated
to that of the new weight.
You can work 'backwards' as well, if you like. For example, if you click SELECT
over any of the blue 'food values', you can enter a new value. !Foods will then
calculate the weight of food required to match the given nutrient value.
Using meals:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is one of the more powerful facilities of !Foods. By clicking MENU over the
icon bar !Foods icon, you can select a meal by moving the pointer right from the
'Show meal' option. Click on a meal from 1 to 4.
This will open a blank window.

You will see a small 'food' icon in the top right corner of the 'food information
window'. If you click SELECT (AND HOLD IT DOWN), then drag the icon in to the
'Meal window' and then let go of SELECT.
The relevant food item will now be added to the meal and be listed in the meal
window. You can now repeat this process as many times as you like.

Playing with Meals:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By clicking MENU over the 'Meal window', you can obtain a Meal menu. This allows
you to delete items from the meal menu, print out a menu, total up the dietary
information for the whole menu or show the Recommended Daily Amounts. Just click
SELECT on the relevant option to select your choice.
Whilst the Recommended Daily Amounts display is open, you can still amend the
values in the original 'Food information' window and the RDA values will be
updated appropiately.
Clicking on 'Show table' will re-calculate the dietary content of ALL the food
items in the meal window.
This will be displayed in the original 'Food information' window.
