                          Version History
                          ===============

Version 0.995  (released 18 February 1999)
=============

Another nice tidy-up.

Zipping: Option to process directories as zip files. This hides all
                     filenames and filetypes as well as compressing the data,
                     but is a lot slower than normal directory processing, and
                     you need to process an entire zip file just to get at
                     one individual file.

Registration: Pops up a little registration window for the user to fill
                     in their info so I can see how widely Encrypt is being
                     distributed.

Nuking: The Nuke facility now senses the operating system being
                     used, and as such will not corrupt E+ and F+ (R/OS 4)
                     format discs.

Misc: The templates and menus have been brushed up. The hourglass
                     now shows how far through processing a directory you are,
                     and the security of temporary files has been increased.
                     Oh yeah, Encrypt fully works on Risc OS 3.8 and 4.

Version 0.99b  (released 26 December 1998)
=============

Gawd, it's been a long time since I last released a version. Still, the work's
been done over a period of months when I got bored with other things.

Nuking: Uses Sergio Monesi's Nuke utility to remove all traces of
                     files from the disc for extended security. This option can
                     be very dangerous - see the help file for more details.

MD5 hashing: Uses the Cipher module by Nick Craig-Wood to provide
                     the renowned MD5 pass-phrase hash algorithm for extra
                     security.

General: URL handlers altered, directory handling improved.
                     Bug for long filenames fixed. Bug in Ram transfers fixed.

Version 0.98  (released 14 April 1998)
============

Some quite important features added in response to queries and suggestions from
quite a few users.

Pass-phrase hash: A hash of the pass-phrase is now added to the end of the
                     plaintext before it is encrypted. This allows the
                     pass-phrase to be checked on decryption to make sure
                     that a wrong pass-phrase will not result in a garbled file.

Pass-phrase verify: An option has been added, in which the pass-phrase must be
                     entered twice before encryption is possible. This is to
                     ensure that the intended pass-phrase is used.

New blowfish module: This version now uses the Blowfish module by Gareth
                     McCaughan, which utilises CBC encryption to remove
                     the previous problems of repeated patterns.

Version 0.97  (released 18 March 1998)
============

This was a major update on the previous version, 0.95. The changes are listed
below.

PGP-enabled version: PGP IDEA processing has been added as an alternative
                     to Blowfish, for files which need ultimate protection.
                     This needs the PGP application which was converted
                     to Acorns by Gareth McCaughan and is available from:
                     <http://web.bham.ac.uk/N.M.Queen/pgp/acorn.html>

Options box : An options box has been added, to allow choice between
                     the two encryption methods, and also other options, which
                     have been added as described below.

Hide: There is now an option to replace the pass-phrase with
                     *'s, meaning that the pass-phrase cannot be read off the
                     screen as it is typed.

Warnings: There is also an option to turn off warnings that are
                     displayed when directories are processed and the warning
                     given when the original file is overwritten

General: The ram-transfer routines have been cleaned up, and
                     saving directories to another filepath now includes
                     all files, not just those processed. A link to the help
                     file and web-page have been added to the icon-bar menu.

Version 0.95  (1 February 1998)
============

Now supports directory processing, thanks to the routines from Mike Enderby of Integrated Systems Technologies <http://www.interpages.co.uk>

Version 0.91  (14 January 1998)
============

Uses the Blowfish method of file encryption for far safer files than the previous method. Thanks to WonderWorks <http://www.wonderworks.co.uk> for the PD blowfish module.

Version 0.85  (1 January 1998)
============

First internet release version, using the Encrypt module. A random seed has been added to the encryption to prevent null [00] bytes showing the passtext.

Version 0.8  (about January 1997)
===========

The ARM encryption code has now been placed in a module, accessed via an SWI.

Version 0.7  (about December 1996)
===========

All of the encryption routines have been re-written in ARM-code for increased speed (about 1000% increase)

Version 0.6  (about July 1996)
===========

Encryption routine changed to process files in memory, rather than byte-by-byte from disc (about 1000% increase in speed)

Version 0.5  (about March 1996)
===========

Desktop front-end re-designed completely.

Version 0.2  (about February 1996)
===========
