!Boot
~~~~~
This is supplied as an example !Boot application to
demonstrate how DeskPatch can be integrated into
the boot-up sequence of your system.
The DeskPatch applications should be loaded before
the desktop is entered, therefore they should be
installed from the !Run file inside the !Boot app.
If you are not already using a !Boot application,
but use a desktop (&FEA) !Boot file instead, then
you should keep a copy of your original !Boot file,
copy the example !Boot application to your root
directory and append the original !Boot file to the
'DeskBoot' file inside the example !Boot application.
!Desktop+
~~~~~~~~~
This application will improve the look of standard
applications held in ROM by replacing their window
template files with professionally designed ones,
supporting Acorn's new 3D style.

Please note that the new templates will only work if
the 'Windows3D' module is loaded before the desktop
is entered! To do this, simple insert the line:

        Run DeskPatch:!Desktop+

into the !Run file in your !Boot application.

!Filer+
~~~~~~~
This is the most impressive program in the suite,
it offers you many additional features to the filer:
solid icon drags, directory with icons, two-stage
icons plus many more...
Please refer to section: TECHNICAL INFORMATION for
more information on how to achieve the above results.
!Pinboard+
~~~~~~~~~~
To complement !Filer+, this program allows solid
icon dragging on the pinboard.

!AutoFocus
~~~~~~~~~~
This small application will automatically highlight
the window the mouse pointer is currently over.
!FancyDirs
~~~~~~~~~~
This program demonstrates the 'fancy' directories
facility offered by !Filer+. On running the program,
a directory viewer containing 'fancy' directories
will be displayed. All the icons are stored in the
file named !TheIcons.

This program needs !Filer+, therefore !Filer+ must
be installed first!

!TwoStage
~~~~~~~~~
This program demonstrates the two stage icon facility
offered by !Filer+. On running the program,
a directory viewer containing sample directories
with two stage icons will be displayed. All the icons
are stored in the file named !TheIcons.
This program needs !Filer+, therefore !Filer+ must
be installed first!
Backdrops
~~~~~~~~~
This is a directory containing sample 'wallpapers'
for the pinboard backdrop facility.

Fancy Directories
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Normal directories can now have their own icons,
depicting their content. For example, if have a
directory containing letters, you can design an icon
showing a mailbox. The format of a directory icon
is simply a sprite with the name of the directory
preceeded by a # (hash) character.
The !FancyDirs application demonstrates this feature,
just double click on it, and you can see example
fancy directories.
Two Stage Icons
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition to the ability to have fancy directory
icons, !Filer+ also allows you to design a second
icon for every object in the filer windows, so that
when they are clicked on, instead of being inverted
the second icon will be displayed instead!

The format of the second stage icon is simply a
sprite with the name of the object with a super-
scripted '' (Alt-2) added to the end of the name.

For example, if you have an application called
!Padlock, you can create two sprites, one called
!Padlock, showing an unlocked padlock and a second
called !Padlock, showing a locked padlock, and put
them both in the !Sprites file. Now, when you click
on the !Padlock application, the icon will change
from an unlocked padlock to a locked one! Simple?
Well, I am sure you will understand.

The !TwoStage application demonstrates this feature,
just double click on it, and you can see example
directories with two stage icons.
