CDViewer MUST be distributed as the !CDInst application.

CDViewer is supplied as is. Using this program is entirely at your own risk.

Installing

CDViewer is simply installed by running the !CDInst application. This will install CDViewer for you.

CDViewer will then load when the computer boots up.

Using CDViewer
The First thing you might notice when CDViewer loads is that the CD icon changes to reflect the type of CD in the drive,

Data CD,

Audio CD,

Audio CD playing,

Audio CD paused,

No CD (or not accessible).

The icon will change straight away as you change CDs.

Clicking on the CD icon will have a different effect depending on what type of CD is in the drive.

For a Data CD a standard Filer window will be opened showing the contents of the CD.

For an Audio CD the CD player window will be opened, (see next chapter).

If the drive is empty nothing will happen.

When a dual format CD is put in the drive CDViewer will display both an audio CD icon and a data CD icon.

Clicking Menu on CDViewers icon will open up a menu something like this one.

The various options will be available depending on what type of cd is in the drive.

Play/Pause plays or Pauses the an audio CD.

Stop stops the CD.

Configure opens up the configuration window.

Dismount will dismount a data CD.

Eject ejects the CD.

Close closes the CD draw.

The CD Player
The CD Player Window

When you click on the CD icon when there is an audio CD in the drive a window similar to the on shown below will be opened.
Most of the icons are self explanatory, Play, plays the CD, Stop, stops the CD, etc.

What may be new is the Track Position bar. this the position in the track that you are currently hearing. It is also interactive so you can drag the bar to any position and the CD will jump to that position.

Clicking on thetime display will open a menu allowing you to change the time display to on of the following;

CD elapsed, displays the amount of time from the start of the CD.
CD remain, displays the amount of time to the end of the CD.
Track elapsed, displays the amount of time from the start of the track.
Track remain, displays the amount of time to the end of the track.

Clicking menu will open the CD Player menu, it has two items, Edit Track List and Eject.

Edit Track List will open the Track List window and Eject, ejects the CD.

Track List window

The Track List window will look something like this;
The CD details can be all entered in the appropriate icons.

If the CD is on with various artists then you should enter (various) into the CD Artist icon. This can Quickly be entered by selecting it from the menu.

Configuring CDViewer and CDFS

The configure widow is accessed by selecting Configure from the icon bar menu. This will open a window with four sections.

The CDFS section should be used to setup CDFS. The number of CD drives can be set by using the up and down arrows. The buffer is set by selecting a value from the menu.

The CDViewer section is used to setup CDViewer. The poll time is the time in seconds between each check of the state of the CD Drive. The application used as the CD player can be set by typing its path into the player app icon.

The AudioView section is used to setup the CD player. Again the poll time can be set by using the arrows. The CD player poll time should be smaller than the CDViewer poll time.

The Show section is used to set what information the CD player displays (this section is currently not supported).

Whats Next?

Photo CD viewer. (This is likely to be a shareware upgrade and anyone interested should contact me)
 Memory
 Random play
 Repeat One/All/Memory
 Music database with search
Adjust clicking with audio CD in will open a filer window

If you have any ideas/suggestions do not hesitate to contact me.

Please do not tell me about any of the many problems with CDFS as CDViewer only replaces CDFSFiler (what you see on the iconbar).
