Savefile,0:Drag this icon to the directory in which you want to save the file. Or, drag it to the program into which you want to transfer the data.
Savefile,254:This box allows you to save data in a file, or transfer it to another application.

Conf,254:You are being asked to confirm an operation that cannot be easily reversed. Think!

Directory,0:This is the TX batch window. It displays objects like faxes that are ready to be sent.|M\Sselect objects.|MDouble \Sview an object.|MDouble \Asee the schedule for the object.
Directory,1:This is the RX batch window. It displays objects like faxes or messages that have been received.|M\Sselect objects.|MDouble \Sview an object.

Printing,255:This window is displayed whilst a fax is being printed.
Printing,1:This is the number of the copy of the fax currently being printed.
Printing,4:\Sstop printing.
Printing,5:\Stoggle between printing and paused.

Zoom,7:When this icon is selected the magnification of the page will vary with the size of the window.
Zoom,254:Either fill in the numerator and denominator, or click \s on the arrows, to use the given zoom factor.

Password,254:The telephone directory has had a password set for it. You must enter the password and click on OK to proceed.

Settings,0:\Ssave the current ArcFax configuration for future use.
Settings,4:\Schange the modem configuration e.g. type of modem driver.
Settings,3:\Schange the batch configuration e.g. what happens to sent and received faxes.

Schedule,0:This is a schedule window. There is one entry for each destination for the fax.
Schedule,1:This is the ArcFax schedule for making outgoing calls to receive things. You do not use this window for sending faxes.

Entry,1:The short name for the entry. This appears on menus, and is used to refer to the fax number. Pick something memorable. If you change this name a new entry will be created.
Entry,5:The fax number to associate with this entry.
Entry,12:The voice number for this entry.
Entry,27,28:Voice dial the number to the left.
Entry,16,13,17,19,22,23,32,33,34,3:Enter in these icons, text you want to associate with the entry. The text in the first 9 icons can be exported by dragging the appropriate entry from the phone directory.
Entry,10:When selected, the dial prefix will be used for this entry.
Entry,2:When selected the entry will appear in the menu of entries.
Entry,8:When selected no password is needed to dial the entry.
Entry,36:When selected, incoming calls whose Caller ID matches the entry numbers will not be answered.

Entry,65:Select this if you want the Remote ID entered to take effect.
Entry,64:Enter the fax id for this entry. You must find this out from the log file for a previous call to the entry.
Entry,50:Server name for this entry.
Entry,51:\Sdisplay a menu of server names.
Entry,54:Enter the first parameter for the server.
Entry,55:Enter the second parameter for the server.
Entry,43:Select this to make the server for this entry active. A server is a script file that is handed control when the entry is dialled and the type of the answerer is known.
Entry,254:This window shows all the values associated with an entry in the telephone directory.

Teledir,254:This is the telephone directory. It shows names and fax numbers.|M\Sselect entries.|MDouble click \s to dial voice number.|MDouble click \a to edit entry|M\Dto use entry somewhere.

View,254:This window displays a fax.|M\Dto save an area as a sprite.|M\Sput the caret in the window.

Btools,255:This group of icons allow you to adjust the view of the fax.

Process,3:\Srotate the fax by 90 degrees (clockwise).

VXPrint,14:This is the name of the currently selected printer.

VXPrint,17:\Senter a range of pages to be printed.
VXPrint,15:Enter the lowest page number to be printed.

Control,1:This shows what ArcFax is doing at the moment.
Control,6:This is the name of the fax currently being sent or received.
Control,7:This is the page currently being sent, and the total number of pages.
Control,9:For transmission this shows the percentage of the current page that has been sent.
Control,20:This is the id of the remote fax machine.
Control,14:This is the speed faxes are being sent or received at. (min 2400 max 14400).
Control,11:This is the type of data compression being used. One or two dimensional. 2D is more powerful.
Control,15:This shows the resolution of the fax. High or Low.
Control,25:This is the phone number of a remote caller. Only if your phone company supports 'Caller ID'.
Control,37:This shows the duration of the current call.
Control,4:\Sstop the current fax. The fax will be put on hold.
Control,19:\Shold all faxes due to be sent.
Control,22:\Srelease all held faxes.
Control,28:\Smake the next due fax transmission, happen now.
Control,23:\Sshow the log file analysis.
Control,29:\Sshow the schedule for making outgoing calls to receive things.
Control,5:This group of icons is concerned with direct faxing e.g. when the remote fax machine shares a voice line.
Control,18:Drag the fax from the TX batch that you want to send here.
Control,31:Enter the phone number/directory name that you want to call.
Control,30:\Sshow a list of telephone directory names.
Control,17:\Sbegin sending the fax above - when you hear the remote fax machine go beep.
Control,16:\Sbegin receiving a fax - when you hear the remote fax machine go beep.
Control,34:\Svoice dial the name/number entered above.
Control,33:\Sdial and then send the fax.
Control,35:\Sdial and receive a fax.

Newfax,255:This window is opened when a new fax has been created and added to the TX batch.
Newfax,2:Enter a name for the fax. The one displayed has been automatically generated.
Newfax,3:Enter the number or telephone directory name that you want the fax sending to. You can also drag and drop an entry from the telephone directory here.
Newfax,4:\Ssee a menu of telephone directory names.
Newfax,7:This group of icons set various attributes for the new fax. They will be filled in from the telephone directory when you enter a name, or from the new fax settings window.
Newfax,8:This is the priority for the fax.
Newfax,12:This is the call band for the fax.
Newfax,9:\Sdisplay a menu of priorities.
Newfax,13:\Sdisplay a menu of call bands.
Newfax,10:When selected, the dial prefix will be used when sending this fax.
Newfax,6:\Senter the fax in the TX batch with the given values. If you have given a destination, fax sending will begin immediately. Otherwise the fax will be put in the TX batch.
Newfax,5:\Sthrow the fax away.

Modem,255:This window lets you change your modem configuration.
Modem,2:This is the currently selected modem driver.
Modem,3:\Sdisplay a menu of available modem drivers.
Modem,5:\Scontrol if tone dialling will be used.
Modem,4:Enter the number of RINGS you want ArcFax to answer after.
Modem,0,6,7,8:These icons set the type of calls ArcFax will try to answer.|MOnly select combinations that your modem can answer and detect the difference between e.g. some modems can do fax or data, but not both at once.
Modem,12,13,15:These icons control the mode your modem will answer in. Usually choose Answer.
Modem,9:\Sset if zero padding will be added to data sent to your modem. If fax sending always fails to some machines, try selecting this.
Modem,10:\Smake ArcFax not grab the serial port as soon as it is run.
Modem,11:\Sclose the window and make the settings current. When the window closes, there will be a pause whilst your modem is updated.
Modem,1:\Sclose the window, throw away the settings in it, and continue with the previous ones.


Fax,255:This window lets you set how your modem will appear to other fax machines.
Fax,12:Enter the header text you want to appear at the top of every fax that is sent.
Fax,13:\Scontrol if a header will appear on faxes.
Fax,24:This is the minimum speed faxes will be sent at.
Fax,25,17:\Sshow a list of the possible speeds.
Fax,9:This is the maximum speed faxes will be sent at. Don't set a speed faster than your modem is capable of.
Fax,10:This is the width of faxes you are capable of receiving.
Fax,18:\Sshow a list of the possible widths.
Fax,11:This is the length of faxes you are capable of receiving.
Fax,22:\Sshow a list of the possible lengths.
Fax,21:Enter your fax identifier. A good choice is your phone number. Digits are fine, letters may upset your modem.
Fax,20:\Scontrol if the identifier will be sent to remote fax machines.
Fax,15:Enter the percentage of bad lines in a page, before the sending machine is told the page is bad.
Fax,16:Enter the number of times a page should be retried.
Fax,6:\Sclose the window and make the settings current.
Fax,4:\Sclose the window, throw away the settings in it, and continue with the previous ones.
Fax,14:\Scontrol if you can handle high resolution faxes.
Fax,19:\Scontrol if you can handle two dimensional compression. Selecting this will also make 2D compression be used for storing faxes on disc.


Batch,255:This window allows you to configure settings concerned with the batches that store objects ready to be sent, and objects received.
Batch,9:\Scontrol if faxes will be automatically deleted from disc, once they have been successfully sent.
Batch,11:Enter the delay in seconds between attempts to send a fax.
Batch,8:\Scontrol if damaged or incomplete faxes will be kept or discarded.
Batch,13:Enter the number of attempts to be made to send a fax.
Batch,6:\Scontrol if the RX Batch window will pop-up when a new fax is received.
Batch,7:\Scontrol if the TX Batch window will pop-up when a new fax appears in the TX batch (when you print to ArcFax), or if the New fax window will appear instead.
Batch,14:\Scontrol if you will be warned when ArcFax is run, that faxes are about to be sent, and given a chance to hold them.
Batch,1:Enter the name of the log file here.
Batch,2:\Sget a save box that can be dragged to where you want the log file writing.
Batch,3:\Scontrol if a log file will be kept.
Batch,16:Enter the directory name or phone number, that you want received faxes forwarding to.
Batch,17:\Sshow a list of directory names.
Batch,18:\Scontrol if faxes will be forwarded somewhere.
Batch,5:\Sclose the window and make the settings current.

Batch,20,21:\Scontrol if a warning window will appear when the number of entries in the batches passes the limit set here. Unless your filing system has no limits on the number of files in a directory leave this enabled.

Printer,255:This window allows you to configure settings concerned with printing received faxes, and creating new faxes using text mode printing.
Printer,9:\Scontrol if received faxes will be printed automatically as soon as they are received.
Printer,10:\Scontrol if the identifier of the sender, and the time of receipt will be shown on received faxes when printed.
Printer,0:This group of icons is concerned with text printing e.g. from Edit, and as opposed to graphics printing.
Printer,2:Shows the outline font that will be used. Corpus is a good choice.
Printer,5:\Sshow a list of the available fonts.
Printer,8:\Smake text printing work in portrait mode.
Printer,7:\Smake text printing work in landscape mode - two columns.
Printer,6:\Sclose the window and make the settings current.
Printer,4:\Sclose the window, throw away the settings in it, and continue with the previous ones.

Log,254:This is the log file window. The fields are: time+date, name of fax, result (fail/sent/recv), time in seconds, cost in pence, remote fax id, name/number, reason for failure. Received faxes are shown inverted.


Voice,2:This shows the type of data compression applied to voice files.
Voice,3:\Sdisplay a menu of the available types of data compression.
Voice,4:Enter the number of bits to be used for each sample. Typically 2 or 3.
Voice,9:Enter the number of samples per second. Typically 9600 or 7200.
Voice,11:Enter the period of silence (in seconds) to end a message.
Voice,12:Enter the maximum period of a message (in seconds).
Voice,0:\Sclose the window and make the settings current.
Voice,1:\Sclose the window, throw away the settings in it, and continue with the previous ones.
Voice,254:This window allows you to configure the settings for voice operation of your modem.


Replay,3:\Smove to the end of the message.
Replay,6:This is the play button.|M\Sstart playing.
Replay,33:This is the stop button.|M\Sstop playing and recording.
Replay,26:\Smove to the start of the message.
Replay,1:This is the rewind button.|M\Smove backwards.
Replay,2:This is the fast forward button.|M\Smove forwards.

Replay,28:Recording will be from the telephone line.
Replay,27:Recording will be from a microphone plugged into the modem.
Replay,32:Recording will be from the telephone handset (if implemented).
Replay,31:Playback will be to the telephone line.
Replay,29:Playback will be to the modems loudspeaker.
Replay,30:Playback will be through the computers loudspeaker (if implemented).
Replay,7,8,9,10,11:These icons show the current position in the message.
Replay,13,14,39,40,41:These icons show the length of the message.
Replay,12:This shows what is going on, play, end of message or pause.
Replay,25:This shows REC when record mode is selected.
Replay,254:This is the sound control window. It lets you create and playback voice message files.

DBug,254:This is the debug window. It shows you what ArcFax and your modem are saying to each other. The number at the left is a time. Commands from ArcFax to the modem are in yellow, and modem responses in white.

Server,9:\Smake the server active.
Server,2:The name of the server script.
Server,5:\Sdisplay the names of the available servers. (contents of !ArcFax.Server).
Server,8:Enter the first parameter for the server.
Server,7:Enter the second parameter for the server.
Server,3:\Sclose the window and make the settings current.
Server,4:\Sclose the window, throw away the settings in it, and continue with the previous ones.
Server,254:This is the server configuration window. A server is a script file that takes control after the modem has answered, and determined the type of an incoming call.
